I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am READY FOR SUMMER!!!!
Bring on the sunny weather, the beaches, the bikinis (eek!), the pool, the barbeque (vegeterian friendly for me, of course), and the…hair!!
Here are Laurendoeshair.com’s Do’s and Don’ts of Summer Hair.
DO try a braid
Braids have been in style for a while now. And why not?? I have seen braids everywhere: from the red carpet to the grocery store. It is an easy solution for:
1) Growing out your bangs
2) Keeping hair out of your face
3) Dressing up your hair for an evening out
DON’T be afraid to let go of your length
Seriously… just do it. It will be so much easier on you. And if you are too scared, try a fake short cut, by pinning up your very bottom length under your short layers (“fake bob”=FOB — to come in a later blog)
Flowers. Headbands. Barrettes. A clip-in extension. Put something in your hair for a good time! It is a very easy way to glam up your summer ‘do. Especially for you short haired gals out there!
DON’T let frizz control your life.
Really, there is no excuse for this one. There are hundreds of products out there to help you fight frizz and tame down your tresses in the summer. I can name at least 12 products on the shelf at my salon right now, let alone other salon brands and (I do not support) drugstore brands. My favorite? Kenra’s Platinum Silkening Gloss. It adds an amazing smell and shine in addition to fighting frizz.
DO finger style your hair.
Use your blowdryer on a medium heat, and use your fingers to style your hair instead of a brush. This will help your hair get its natural wave and piecey look.
If your hair is stick straight and thin? french braid your hair and let it sit for a few hours. Then take them out and finger style them for a wavy look.
DON’T go bare at the beach/pool.
Always, always, always, wet your hair before going into a pool… Apply either a conditioner or a leave-in conditioner to stay away from damage from chemicals and the sun. No one wants their color to fade, do they?! Lets protect!!
